We’re delighted to share that St. Augustine’s Catholic College has been named in the prestigious Edtech50 Schools 2025 list—an honour that recognises the most impactful and imaginative uses of technology in UK education this year.

This recognition is more than a badge. It’s a celebration of the entire community’s commitment to purposeful innovation—of using technology not for its own sake, but to deepen learning, save teachers time, and equip students and staff alike for a changing world.
🌠 Enter Starlight: Born in the Classroom, Built for the Profession
At the heart of this journey lies Starlight—our in-house developed AI-powered coaching platform. It began as a response to a simple challenge: How can we make regular, high-quality feedback for every teacher achievable and scalable?
Starlight lets teachers record a lesson, upload the audio, and receive a tailored AI coaching report within minutes—helping spark reflection, highlight strengths, and offer practical ideas for incremental growth. In just its first few weeks of testing, over 400 lessons were submitted by early adopters, with enthusiastic responses highlighting its speed, accuracy, and motivational effect.
🚀 From Local Prototype to National Pilot
What started at St. Augustine’s is now being piloted in schools across the UK. Thanks to the support of forward-thinking teachers, support staff, and senior leaders, Starlight is evolving in real time—guided by the very people it’s built to serve.
Our aim? To support a culture where feedback is specific, timely, actionable and regular. Where coaching is for every teacher, not just a few. And where AI is used ethically and transparently—to spark insight and engineer progress.
💡 Why This Matters
Recognition from Edtech UK validates not just a product, but a philosophy. That schools can lead innovation. That meaningful technology doesn’t start in Silicon Valley—it can start in a Wiltshire classroom. This is the true meaning of the AI revolution.
And we’re just getting started.

The Insight Engine is written by Adam Sturdee, co-founder of Starlight—the UK’s first AI-powered coaching platform—and Assistant Headteacher at St Augustine’s Catholic College. This blog is part of a wider mission to support educators through meaningful reflection, not performance metrics. It documents the journey of building Starlight from the ground up, and explores how AI, when shaped with care, can reduce workload, surface insight, and help teachers think more deeply about their practice. Rooted in the belief that growth should be private, professional, and purposeful, The Insight Engine offers ideas and stories that put insight—not judgment—at the centre of development.
