When we launched our pilot earlier this year, our goal was simple: to see if Starlight could make a tangible difference to teachers’ professional growth and wellbeing. The results are now in—and we’re proud to share that every single one of our pilot schools has decided to purchase the platform for their setting.

This is more than just a milestone for us—it’s a statement about the value Starlight delivers. Schools are operating under unprecedented pressures on workload, budgets, and time. For all of our pilot schools to invest in Starlight after experiencing it first-hand is proof that the platform is meeting real needs in classrooms today.

Starlight is built on the principle of Transcript-Based Lesson Analysis (TBLA), a globally recognised method that enables teachers to reflect on their own practice using lesson transcripts. By harnessing AI, we’ve scaled this reflective power: within minutes of uploading a lesson, teachers receive a transcript and coaching insights designed to be specific, timely, actionable, and regular. This makes professional reflection part of everyday practice rather than an occasional add-on.

The UK education market is vast—over 32,000 schools with more than 640,000 teachers—and professional development budgets are tight. For schools to commit part of those budgets to Starlight so quickly signals both trust and impact. It also reflects a wider trend: demand for AI-driven coaching and professional development in the UK is expected to grow from £381.6 million in 2025 to £1.7 billion by 2030, across education and beyond.

For us, though, this isn’t about market size. It’s about people. Teachers tell us Starlight gives them one or two insights per lesson they wouldn’t otherwise see—moments that spark reflection, prompt change, and reduce workload. Leaders tell us it provides real-time data at scale without adding to staff stress. That’s why every pilot school has chosen to keep going.

To the schools who joined us at the start: thank you for your trust and belief. To the many others considering next steps: the door is open. Join us on the UK’s first AI-powered coaching platform and see for yourself what’s possible when insight sparks progress.

This year, we’re inviting a select number of schools to join our Starlight Launchpad Partner Programme — a try-before-you-buy offer designed to let you experience the platform with no long-term commitment. Launchpad partners receive StarDrives, full platform access, tailored onboarding, and early access to our Constellation dashboard. We’re confident that once you try Starlight, you’ll see its immediate value in scaling coaching, reducing workload, and surfacing insights that make a real difference. Most places for this year have already been taken, but a few remain for schools ready to explore what’s possible.

The Insight Engine is written by Adam Sturdee, co-founder of Starlight—the UK’s first AI-powered coaching platform—and Assistant Headteacher at St Augustine’s Catholic College. This blog is part of a wider mission to support educators through meaningful reflection, not performance metrics. It documents the journey of building Starlight from the ground up, and explores how AI, when shaped with care, can reduce workload, surface insight, and help teachers think more deeply about their practice. Rooted in the belief that growth should be private, professional, and purposeful, The Insight Engine offers ideas and stories that put insight—not judgment—at the centre of development.
