A New Starlight Walkthrough Video

Over the past six months, Starlight has evolved quickly.

We have added the Teacher Journey.

We have introduced Development Actions.

We have expanded custom templates.

We have built the Constellation dashboard for leaders.

And we have launched the Lesson Toolkit to reduce teacher workload.

Each addition has been guided by one principle: make feedback specific, timely, actionable and regular — at scale.

As the platform has grown, so has the need for clarity. New features bring power, but they also require orientation. We want every teacher and leader to feel confident navigating Starlight from the very first upload.

So we have created a new, concise walkthrough video.

It takes you step by step through the platform. From logging in, to uploading a full lesson, to exploring transcripts, generating feedback, tracking your development journey, and using the Lesson Toolkit to turn insight into immediate classroom action.

For school leaders, it also explains how the Constellation dashboard surfaces anonymised, aggregated trends across teams — without turning coaching into surveillance.

Starlight remains what it has always been: a private, developmental tool designed by teachers, for teachers. But it is now more powerful, more flexible and more aligned to the realities of modern schools than ever before.

If you are already using Starlight, the video will help you unlock features you may not yet be using.

If you are new to Starlight, it is the best place to begin.

The Insight Engine is written by Adam Sturdee, co-founder of Starlight, the UK’s first AI-powered coaching platform, and a senior leader with responsibility for teaching, learning and coaching. This blog is part of a wider mission to support educators through meaningful reflection, not performance metrics. It documents the journey of building Starlight from the ground up, and explores how AI, when shaped with care, can reduce workload, surface insight, and help teachers think more deeply about their practice. Rooted in the belief that growth should be private, professional, and purposeful, The Insight Engine offers ideas and stories that put insight—not judgment—at the centre of development.
